SOCIAL EVENTS:

Monthly Meetings

The monthly meeting is usually held the first Saturday of every month but is it subject to change and there is no meeting in June as most people are away.  Non members are also welcome to attend monthly meetings and pay the guest fee unless there is a specific members only meeting.

We have covered a wide variety of topics for our monthly meetings and they have been held at a number of different locations across the city.  Examples of past meetings are: Talks on the history of Kolkata, Cooking demonstrations, fashion and beauty advice, life skills training, yoga workshops, cocktails lessons, and cultural talks themed around the many festivals and holidays of Kolkata and India.

We have welcomed many guest speakers, some of whom are famous face in Kolkata and some of our own members have themselves contributed.  If you feel you have something to contribute or a venue that would be suitable for our meetings whether you are a member of just a resident of Kolkata please email us kolkatakiwc@gmail.com

This is our annual fundraising event held at the height of the monsoon season. It is an evening of glamour, prizes, amazing food, entertainment and dancing and it is held at one of the 5 star hotels in the city. All funds raised go to KIWC's charities.  The date will usually be publicised well in advance and it is usually in August or September.

We are always looking for more Sponsorship from local businesses and if you are able to offer us any support then please email kolkatakiwc@gmail.com.  All the funds raised go directly to the charities that we support.

The Monsoon Ball is an opportunity for KIWC members, friends and family to enjoy a night out to remember.

This event is open to all - members and non-members. Further information kolkatakiwc@gmail.com

Monsoon Ball

Festive Family Events

Queen Elizabeth II Cup

This is held every year in February, usually the first Saturday of the month and we are very privileged as members of the KIWC to receive an invite from the Royal Calcutta Turf Club to attend.

The event has great historical significance for the city and is always a big day and well attended.  The ladies of the KIWC and all the other ladies of Calcutta will dress up in fine dresses and hats for the occasion.

Our invite is restricted to KIWC members and their spouses only and we cannot arrange tickets for guests or friends.   An invite to this prodigious event is one of the huge benefits of being a member of the club.

Cultural Talks and Tours

The KIWC has held many cultural talks as part of the monthly meetings with the aim of providing those new to the city or new to India with some insight into cultural practices and traditions.  We are always keen to hear if our members would like to learn more about the diverse and wonderful culture that we find ourselves in so if you have any ideas for a cultural meeting that you would like to attend please do get in touch.

We have also arranged a number of tours including in the past tours of The Marble Palace, Horticultural Gardens, the Governor's House and more recently a tour of North Calcutta.  If you would be interested in going on a tour with other KIWC members or if you are local to Calcutta and are able to offer us a tour of somewhere we perhaps are not usually able to get access to then please email us. kolkatakiwc@gmail.com

Christmas Bazaar

The Christmas Bazaar is a exhibition for local NGO's who make and sell handicrafts, food and other goods.  Its has over the years grown into a bigger event with Carol Singing, food and a visit from Father Christmas and it serves as a Christmas party for the KIWC and their families.  The Bazaar is open to everyone and many people attend.  It is usually the last Saturday in November and is a really fun family day out.  Should you know of a local NGO who could exhibit here or if you are able to offer us some sponsorship for this event please get in touch kolkatakiwc@gmail.com

As a club which aims to give support to international women who find themselves living in Calcutta we try to provide an atmosphere of home and a community for those holidays that we traditionally celebrate back in our own countries.  Each year we try to organise an Easter Party, a Halloween Party, Christmas celebrations and often we have something on Mothering Sunday.  These are usually made possible thanks to the generosity of the 5 star hotels that sponsor us throughout the city.  These family parties are often exclusive KIWC members only in order to allow families to meet each other and to keep the community feel of the event.

And More......

In addition to our meetings, fundraising and cultural events, the KIWC have also provided members other opportunities to meet and have fun. These have included ladies nights, luncheons, shopping tours, exhibitions and cooking classes.

If you have any ideas or you are interested in collaborating with the KIWC for their social events please contact us kolkatakiwc@gmail.com
